Megan attends an English boarding school in the 1960's where she lives in a tower room with 2 other students. This girl named Megan madly falls in love with a dude named Simmon. Well, now I've read all three Edgerton Hall fairy tale stories, albeit in the entirely backward order. I know that there are two more books after this one and perhaps they will clear things up, but the book just didn't leave me curious enough about Megan to find out what happens to her in the other two books. I have to say, they didn't seem all that inspired to me. Looking down from the coveted tower room she shares with her two best friends at a cloistered all-girls boarding school in England, Megan observes the arrival of the new laboratory assistant, Simon Findlay. Granted, there is a tower and a girl with blond hair, but that's about it.

Megan feels a special poignancy about leaving school; orphaned soon after she came to Egerton Hall, she has virtually been brought up there as the ward of the science mistress. Yes, they are very similar in ages. There isn't enough historical flavor for fans of historical fiction. End of the story but in more detailes. She has also won prizes for her poetry and was a joint winner of the Smith Doorstop Poetry Pamphlet Award, offered by the publisher of that name. Loosely based on the Rapunzel fairytale, this highly original novel is the story of a sudden, unexpected, passionate relationship and the unforseen yet inevitable results of defying convention. Aside from being dull and unconvincing, it's also a teacher-student affair that I guess I'm supposed to fall for.

She started writing over twenty-five years ago and is the author of many titles for young readers, including one previous title for the Corgi Pups list Chalk and Cheese and the four Cats of Cuckoo Square titles for Young Corgi. I hate to complain about any book, but this one disappointed me. I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that all the background for the series was set up in this book, which slowed it down quite a bit. As soon as their eyes meet, the spark is lit, and as their love blossoms, Simon starts scaling the scaffolding into the tower room for clandestine trysts. Adele Geras is undeniably skillful at creating a detailed and convincing boarding school atmosphere. The characters are pretty dull and lifeless - although I did enjoy the friendship dynamic and the 60's boarding school setting certainly had a really lovely ambience. In terms of plot, The Tower Room does not stray far from its source except in cosmetic detail. It's little more than a hook in the summary, and I doubt I'd spot the parallels if I hadn't been told they were there. Anyways, this book has a lot of sex in it.

Loosely based on the Rapunzel fairytale, this highly original novel is the story of a sudden, unexpected, passionate relationship and the unforseen yet inevitable results of defying convention. It is almost as much of a mystery why Megan falls in love lust? The Tower Room Egerton Hall Novel, Book 1 By: Adele Geras. As Megan rushes to embrace her fate, her safe, cocooned world is transformed. All three of the novels in this series are tied together, as the three heroines are friends and classmates. End of the story but in more detailes, i liked this book The book The Tower Room is pretty crazy! Because the story is told entirely in flashbacks by Megan to an initially unknown auditor, her voice, perceptions, emotions and self-confessedly purple poetry -- even with the clarity of hindsight -- drown out the voices of the two other key players in this drama. The superficial modern adaptations of the original story's details add little to the story, coming across instead as a bit indulgent, a bit self-complacent and probably unnecessary. Rather than a series of fractured fairy tales, these stories just felt a bit fractured. . She is stuck in a huge tower school.

Like the author just got tired and ended it. This book is basically about fairy tales. Megan, Bella and Alice inhabit the isolated world of a girl's boarding school, Egerton Hall, buried deep in the English countryside. The Tower Room suffers the double misfortune of being at once too cynical for eager teenage romantics and too adolescent for older fairytale fans. The characters had distinct personalities, and I liked the three main girls a lot. Kind of reminds me of the story of snow white in a way. I found it entirely unroma I'm not sure who this book is for.

The author took fairy tale elements when it was convenient, and often didn't tie them up at the end. However, the illicit affair and its consequences remain much the same, with one major difference: Dorothy, like Megan, falls for Simon, creating a potentially interesting love triangle.
